LUGANO AMONG AIR, WATER AND LAND

h. 9.00 AM Meeting with a private driver in Como. Transfer to Lugano (CH) by car/minivan and meeting with a licensed tourist guide. A pleasant mini-cruise (1 hour), by public ferryboat to Melide, Campione d’Italia, and Gandria (famous for its olive trees and vineyards), during which you will enjoy the most important lakeside villages and their surroundings. Back to Lugano for a complete walking guided tour to its historical center. The leading city of the Italian-speaking Swiss Canton of Ticino sprawls along the shores of Lake Lugano luxuriously, embraced by San Salvatore and Brè mounts. It is rich in art: such as the lakefront church dedicated to St. Mary of Angels (Chiesa Santa Maria degli Angioli), dating back to 1499 and frescoed by Bernardino Luini (Leonardo da Vinci’s pupil), in Renaissance style. Time at your leisure for lunch. In the afternoon you will appreciate the splendor of Monte Rosa, the Bernese and Vallese Alps as they can be watched from the top of the sunniest Swiss mountain. Ever since 1908, a cable railway has been leading visitors from Cassarate to Mount Bré (933 meters a.s.l.) in a quarter of an hour. After a short walk, back to Lugano and to Como by car/minivan.
