VENICE: WALKING AND GONDOLA RIDE

Let’s start with an easy-soft walking tour through the romantic city, admiring the architecture of Palazzo Ducale, which was the residence of the Doge and the seat of government and the magistracy, with courts, prisons and armouries. Next to it there is the worldwide known Basilica, once the private chapel of the Doge and now the cathedral of the city, which holds the relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist. It is well-known for its domes and its bell-tower overlooking the homonymous square dotted with some historical elegant café, such as Florian. Then after a few minutes’ walk you can admire one of the landmarks of the city: the Bridge of Sighs. In the past prisoners crossed it and “sighed” for their lost freedom, when they were led to the Piombi prison.
