Orta between its lake and its holy mount

Lake Orta is one of the most romantic lakes in Italy! It’s a small sheet of water dotted with cute lakeside villages, famous for its isle where you can walk along silent lanes around its convent and ancient church. Its religious vocation is also present in the nearby Holy Mount, a beautiful natural path from where you will be struck by a panoramic wonderful view on the lake and its mountains.

Meeting with a private driver and transfer from Stresa/Baveno by car/minivan. Meeting with a licensed tour guide at Orta. Walking tour to the intimate historical centre in order to discover the jewels of that beautiful lakeside village: narrow alleys, ancient buildings, rich churches and picturesque corners. Mini-cruise, by public taxi-boat, to St. Julius’s isle, where tourists will enjoy the visit to the Basilica close to which there is the monumental old Seminary. The small island, just west of the lakeshore village of Orta San Giulio, takes its name from a local patron saint (Julius of Novara), who lived in the second half of IV century.

Time at leisure for individual lunch, individual activities or shopping. In the afternoon guided visit to the Holy Mount of Orta. With its over thirteen hectares, it is a “Special Nature Reserve”. Moreover, in 2003 it was included, with all the other holy mountains, on UNESCO’s List of World Heritage Sites. It is made up of 21 chapels located on a striking natural path on the top of Saint Nicholas Mountain (400 m. a.s.l), where the church of Saints Nicholas and Francesco rises together with the Franciscan Convent in wich some franciscans are still living. From the top of the hill, your eyes can enjoy a wonderful panorama overlooking the lake. Back to Stresa/Baveno by car/minivan.

NOTES

Meeting point: the meeting point with the tourist guide or the private driver will usually take place in the lobby of the Client’s hotel if it is in THE HISTORICAL CENTRE OF THE CITY WHERE THE TOUR STARTS. Please, let us know the name of your hotel.

In case the Client’s accommodation is distant from the historical centers or if you come from other departure places, different meeting points will be communicated after the confirmation of the tour.

On demand: transfer to-from other cities by car/minivan; different number of participants (from 1 to 10 or more).

CANCELLATION POLICY

In case of cancellation of the reservation made by the buyer on the site, Travel-Lab/BookYourItaly will apply the following terms:

• Up to 21 working days prior to the start of the activity: full refund of the service paid by the buyer;
• From 20 to 10 working days prior to the start of the activity: 50% refund of the price paid;
• From 9 to 0 days prior to the beginning of the activity or non-use by the buyer of the service: no refund.

For counting the days the following rules apply:
• The day of the activity is not counted;
• The days begin at 00.00 and end at 24.00 hours in the time zone in force in Italy (GMT +1).

The reimbursement by Travel-Lab/BookYourItaly will be made within 30 working days by crediting the credit card used.
