It is a beautiful mansion, dating back to XVI century, which offers the rare opportunity of seeing some of the world’s most impressive private collections in their original setting. That treasure chest started with Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1579–1633), one of the most knowledgeable art collectors of his times, Pope Paul V’s nephew..He was an early patron of Bernini and Caravaggio, both of them geniuses of the Italian Baroque period.

The Galleria Borghese includes twenty rooms across two floors, divided into two parts:downstairs there are some showcases with classical antiquities, Roman floor mosaics and a large trompe l’oeil ceiling fresco; upstairs there is the picture-gallery. You will have the chance to admire some unmissable masterpieces, such as Apollo and Daphne by Bernini, Pauline Bonaparte by Canova, St. Jerome and David with Goliath’s Head by Caravaggio,The Deposition by Raphael.

Then you will be taken around the stunning romantic English-style Borghese Gardens for a relaxing walk. They are decorated with well-kept lawns, lakes, towering monuments and monumental fountains:the ideal place to escape from the crowded city. Your tour will end up at the Pincio Terrace from where you will admire a breathtaking view over Piazza del Popolo and Rome skyline.
