The art exhibition dedicated to Raphael in Milan (4th October 2019 – 2nd February 2020 , housed in the rooms of the Permanente, celebrates the 500 years since the famous Urbino painter’s death, one of the greatest protagonists of the history of Italian Renaissance art.
Together with other national celebrations focused on his figure, such as the great exhibition of Raphael in Rome at the Scuderie del Quirinale and the initiatives about Raphael’s huge Cartoon for the School of Athens, kept in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan and about the Marriage of the Virgin in the Pinacoteca di Brera, the exhibition organized by the Permanente Museum is a full-immersion experience in the great painter’s works.
From the floor, to the walls, to the ceiling, for 5 rooms, Raphael’s works will surround and involve the visitor, telling his life and works, his experimentations and successes, till illustrating the iconographic and stylistic innovations that made his painting new and immortal.
