Description
Discover Florence’s Urban Hiking: A Panoramic Adventure
To begin your active day, you will meet your private licensed tour or hiking guide in Florence. From there, you will embark on a pleasant soft-trekking activity. It’s more than just a walk; it’s a journey at a brisk pace through Florence and its outskirts, a practice sometimes called “vagabonding.”
Discover Florence’s Green Core: Boboli And Bardini Gardens
Starting from Ponte Vecchio, you will cross into the Oltrarno district to reach the city’s most important green area: the Boboli Gardens. First, you will explore these magnificent gardens, which extend from the hill behind Pitti Palace and once belonged to the Medici and Lorraine families. After reaching the highest part, you will stop to appreciate Fortezza Belvedere. The Medici family built this fortress to protect the government center and themselves in case of an attack. Interestingly, Galileo Galilei also used this very spot for his astronomical observations. Next, you will enter the nearby Bardini Garden. Here you can walk along the stunning baroque flight of steps and through the wisteria tunnel, both of which lead to the Kaffeehaus.
The Grand Finale: Piazzale Michelangelo’s Panorama
Your “detox” speed walk concludes at Piazzale Michelangelo. Here, you will find the remarkable Loggia in a perfect neoclassical style and the famous bronze replica of Michelangelo’s David, surrounded by four allegories. Of course, from this vantage point, you cannot miss taking a postcard-perfect photo of Florence, capturing its iconic landmarks: Brunelleschi’s Dome, Giotto’s Tower, the Civic Tower, and the Arno River with its historic bridges.
