The spring season of Lake Maggiore is unmissable for both Italian and foreign tourists!
The Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto which overlook Lake Maggiore, are chosen as a travel destination, during April, on the occasion of the “Tulip Weeks”. The exhibition, inaugurated for the first time by the then owner of the villa and gardens, the Captain Neil McEacharn in 1956, has reached its 60th edition and offers the visitor a colorful palette of over 80,000 bulbous plants, including tulips.
Don’t miss to “get lost” inside the “Labyrinth of Tulips” with its 20,000 bulbs of 65 different varieties. Among these the “Carnival de Nice”, with white flower and dark red veins, the “Micky Mouse”, yellow and red streaks, the precious black tulip, the “Queen of night”, and the fringed “Flaming Baltic”, with white petals crossed by a flame of an intense burgundy. Then, admire the “Giant Orange Sunset”, the largest tulip in the world!
Not only tulips; walking through the park it is possible to admire a magnificent flowering of magnolias, rhododendrons, forsythias, daffodils, violets and a blue carpet of over 30 thousand muscari in bloom, the novelty of the year.
